Back to the match, and after a dodgy start it was pretty much a walk in the park for Utd. Villa weren't helped by two sending off- but on the other hand if they weren't a dirty team, their players wouldn't get sent off. I've seen the two incidents and they were both clear dissmisals. Therefore, why was Martin O'Neill going off on one. He's always seemed a bit crazy and now I think he's finally losing it. Probably just waiting for MaClaren to get sacked so he can pinch he job. Never trust an
Irishman is something I've always been told and I'm now starting to see why.The other big game of the day was the Merseyside derby. This match basically proved that the referee's do in fact favour the big clubs. Some of the descions in the match were laughable. For example, how was Kuyt's challenge not a sending off. Look at the picture. A two footed challenge is supposed to be a straight red. The "tackle" by the dutchman is not only two footed but also knee height. Eric Cantona would be proud of that- except for the fact that it was aimed at a player not a member of the crowd.
Other dodgy referering moments include the two Everton penalties that weren't given. Since when was getting wrestled to the ground by a dirty scouser 6 yards from goal not a penalty. Even if it wasn't a penalty just give it anyway to stop Liverpool winning. No-one likes to see them win, espically not the manager who took of his teams best player because he was playing with too much passion. Some teams would love their players to show some passion whilst playing. It seemes Benitez is having a "crazy manager" competition with O'Neill. Prehaps he wants the England job too. Anywho it finished 2-1 to the dirty scousers.
At the end of the day's play, yet again top of the table are the dirty foreign bastards- namely Arsenal. All that foreign talent and yet it took an Englishman to change the game in their favour. Prehaps Wenger should learn from that and actually buy some English players. However, considering his other English signings include Fannie Jeffers and Dick Wright, you can see why he has some resevations about it. The 2-0 result may seem comfortable for those gooners but it was far from it. Bolton held out for quite a while but were ultimately undone by a speculative free-kick from a defender- Kolo Toure. As soon as he goes off for the African Nations, Arsenal are going to be fudged- their best back up is Senderos. We'll see who's top after that tournament. Serves them bloody right for buying foreigners if you ask me.
On to the Chelsea game now. Going through a mini-crisis and what teams do they have to face? One week they get Bolton in ultimately Sammy Lee's last game in the job. Next bloody game is Middlesborough- something tells me that a Chelsea man is pulling the strings when it came to deciding the fixture list. Without playing well the ex-champions won 2-0. They're probably going to be a bit disappointed considering who they were playing.
Another good result over the weekend was Blackburns 4-2 win against Reading. The only good news for Reading fans is that when they travel they are guarenteed to see goals. In the past two away games the 17 goals have been scored for or against. They are therefore probably the only fans in the league that actually get value for money when their team is playing. Quite impressive when you think of how much ticket prices actually are these days.
Portsmouth ke
pt up their impressive with a good 2-0 win. I say good but then it wasn't actually that good because it was against the mighty Wigan Athletic. So bad even Benjani managed to score against them. This is the guy who makes the Neville brothers look prolific. At one stage the striker was Pompey's record buy. If you add the £6m for Nugent I'm starting to wonder why Redknapp is known as the king of the wheeler-dealers.The relegation battle of the day was the game was between Fulham and Derby. Neither side could complain at the 0-0 result but pretty much anyone watching could complain at the quality of the game. The only real incident of note was Konchesky being aggresive (what a suprise) and getting himself set of (what a suprise). Apart from that nothing. Therfore can't really say anything else.
The only other result was dirty City's 1-0 win. I don't want to talk about them so I'm not going to.
